Description:
Playing in math class? Yes! When students “play” with and talk about shapes in 2 and 3 dimensions, they are actually developing their geometric reasoning! Geometry is a critical area spanning all
elementary grade levels with connections to measurement, operations and algebraic thinking, and fractions.
In this course, participants will:
- receive the book Teaching Student-Centered Mathematics for Grades K-2 and hands-on materials such as tangrams, 2D and 3D shapes.
- deepen their understanding of the Van Hiele Model of geometric reasoning and the Geometry Standards within the Kentucky Academic Standards for Mathematics.
Cost: $100 per participant
