NEW! Figuring Out Fluency in Mathematics for Grades 4-8

Want to learn more about what procedural and conceptual fluency look like for students in grades 4-8? Join us to examine what fluency is (and what it isn't) and explore how to teach and assess reasoning strategies critical for developing fluency.

Description:

Fluency is much more than knowing facts and standard algorithms. Students in these transitional grades need to be able to use this knowledge for more advanced multiplicative and proportional reasoning. Participants in this course will

  • examine what fluency is (and what it isn't)
  • explore how to teach and assess reasoning strategies so students have the ability to select efficient strategies and adapt as needed to persevere in problem solving
  • receive resources to support the teaching of fluency, including Figuring Out Fluency in Mathematics Teaching and Learning by Jennifer Bay-Williams, a selection of companion books in the Figuring Out Fluency series, Cuisenaire Rods and MORE!

Cost: $200 per participant

Hybrid: Georgetown, KY and Virtual

Facilitator: Dee Crescitelli
